Chesty Nutty Bang Bang

Straight-up, this show is not suitable for you if you haven't seen a lot of theatre productions (including musicals) and movies in 2007. After all, this 11th instalment of Chestnuts, affectionately titled Chesty Nutty Bang Bang, aims to spoof several hit theatre productions and movies which either made or broke the entertainment arena last year.
Notwithstanding the history of Chestnuts, the show maintains its regular audiences and but seems to lose capitalising on the larger audience. My guess is the absence of Hossan Leong, who in previous seasons always tickels the funny bones in people together with director Jonathan Lim. Yet, in this 11th instalment, Judy Ngo and Rodney Oliverio, as well as new guest cast members Celine Rosa Tan, Joakim Gomez and Yeo Yann Yann more than add to the diversity of the jokes, chorus and fundamentally, numbers.
Speaking of the jokes, there are good spoofs to the flopped musical "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" recently held at the Esplanade, coupled with the box-office hit "Transformers", which I thought was one of the best laughs. Second to that comes the spoof to Royston Tan's "881", which was hilarious to anyone who could understand however little Hokkien that was sung. Yeo Yann Yann, who was the original lead in the movie, guest starred in this spoof scene, and defnitely went out her way to impress me and the audience in her versatility and beauty. Her melody, charisma and figure mesmerized me for sure. Not to mention she brought sexyback too.
Without revealing too much and spoiling the show for anyone still intending to catch it, go get your tickets from Gatecrash before the show ends on 3rd Feb! 10% discounts apply if you're still a student.
