It was a good opportunity to watch this show on the 2nd day of its release, though I was pretty surprised the theatre was not full, even on a saturday night. Generally speaking, the show's "just alright". The highlight of the musical was undeniably the car, aptly named Chitty, which "floats-and-flies", allowing the rest of the plot to develop and revolve around it. Otherwise, there wasn't much excitement to look forward to in finding out how all endings end happily. I give full credit to the set designers and engineers behind the interesting props and suspension of Chitty in mid-air with full "flying-capability". The starry-night-lighting and hidden motion-controlled arm underneath and behind the stage was flawless, impressing upon everyone (especially the kids) what dreams may become.
For the full background on the musical, check out the official website here. And if you do watch it, pay attention to the strong Brit-English accents, and you might catch the subtle joke about the Americans, along with other corny jokes which added to the otherwise "not bad" musical.
