S2006 Volunteers Appreciation Night

It was my first time at the newly opened VivoCity (Singapore's largest mall to date), and I was there for the post-S2006/IMF Volunteers Appreciation Night, with Guest-of-Honour PM Lee Hsien Loong, accompanied by the Minister of State for Finance and Transport (and Chairperson of S2006), Mrs Lim Hwee Hwa.

The pictures below show, from left to right,
1) registration at a makeshift tentage outside the level 1 foyer, adjacent to the outdoor fountain. After scanning our identification card, we we issued a wristband that allows us special access up the escalator from Level 2 to Level 3, where Food Republic and the SkyPark was.
2) full-capacity crowd at the outdoor amphitheatre in the SkyPark (Level 3).
3) Guest-of-Honour PM Lee making his speech.

After the speech and award ceremony was over, we proceeded straight for dinner in Food Republic. We were each given 3 food coupons to redeem food (though on average each coupon gets you a plate of 4 wantons, OR 1 chicken wing+kueh pie tee set, OR 1 smaaaalll plate of beef hor fun, etc. You get the drift.) But when you share 15 coupons, you can basically have a feast.

By the time we went back out into the SkyPark, the Singapore Idol Hady Mirza was finishing up his third and final song. Caught one picture of him before he flew off stage. I'd like to think the star of the night as one of the 2 emcees, Jamie Yeo, since everyone was really queueing up for quick shots with her. Thanks to Colin's camera and Grace's hands, this picture of us turned out not too bad.

We all parted with goodie bags containing the prized S2006 polo T-shirt and commerorative EZ-link card, though I haven't yet checked out how much stored value there is. Hmmm.
